Got to Allepey to find ourselves searching for two days for a houseboat tour. Amidst our searching Kat and I thought we'd go see a movie in the afternoon...wasn't much but a flick called 'Red Cherry'. The poster was a couple of hot blondes with guns so we thought "okay, cheesy action flick". We were waiting for the queue to open, along with about 20 other men, and one of them walked up to Kat and said "Sex film, men only..." Well we all got a good laugh out of that one. No movie for us that day. ANyways we did find an overnight tour at a reasonable price and with a really nice boat too...we floated in tranquility all day as we watched the people of the villages carry on with daily life...the evening sunset was fantastic and the night sky was midnight purple with the yellow crescent moon...
Next we were off to Kochi...very pretty by the sea with many historical buildings...not much to say except clean, very touristy, and expensive, maybe cause I bought stuff though...spent a few nights there then off to Munnar...
Munnar is the tea growing capital of India and it is a very beautiful place...lush green misty mountains with a stream or two evey once in a while, fresh air...reminds me of a mystical land...only thing is the town of Munnar itself is VERY noisy. Every morning at 5 a fellow at the mosque nearby breaks out in some devotional song and then turns on the hindi music, or maybe thats coming from the temple...sometimes they take turns and sometimes they don't....the first couple days we hiked through the tea planations and our last day rented a scooter drove further through the hills and then to a very dissappointing Sandalwood forest...did see some monkeys though. They are pretty cute! So far the best coffee has been in Munnar...yay!
Now I am in Coimbatore, a stoppover on my way to Mysore, and can't wait to leave. this place is crazy!
